HUC Enzym

Researchers from the Department of Microbiology, Biomedicine Discovery Institute, Monash University, Clayton, Victoria, Australia, have successfully identified an enzym within a bacterium (Mycobacterium smegmatis) that is able to extract hydrogen from air (atmospheric hydrogen) and create current with it.

Potential applications could be in small devices in the future, such as wrist watches, which are currently powered by solar cells themselves as an alternative to them.

Scaling up of the mass of Enzym is now their next research step.
